New year, new expectations from the High School Musical couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. The 21 year-old Zac didn't waste too much time before popping the question to his sweetheart in early January while they were in a trip in Japan.

National Enquirer has the entire story and according to its source the pair is planning to tie the knot in 2010.

But what about all the rush? Apparently Vanesssa's mother wasn't so thrilled about them two living together before being married, so Efron came right away with a solution. Pretty courageous of him just to please his soon-to-be mother in law, but how serious do they take a commitment such as marriage, remains to be questioned.
