It is so cool when two warriors stand one for the other! That is, in my opinion, a sign of dignity. So, congratulation for Russell Crowe who stood up for Brad Pitt and saved him from getting sued. Not to mention his public image which could have been destroyed. The problem started with pre-production for 'State of Play in which'. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were supposed to perform in it. But in Brad’s opinion the script needed to be improved, and this is when the writers’ strike took place. Brad refused to play in a film that was based on a script he didn’t like. And so did Edward Norton.
So Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck were quickly casted by Universal, the studio bankrolling the picture and Working Title, the London-based powerhouse company producing the film. And there it is the great gesture that Crowe made for Pitt: the Oscar winner made the producers promise that if he signs for the role, they will not go for a very expensive lawsuit against Pitt for breaching the contract.
In the end the film went very well and it was considered the year’s most acclaimed thriller.
