Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin, written by People Assistant Editor Lorenzo Benet which will be published Tuesday by Simon & Schuster's Threshold Editions is the latest book about McCain's running mate for the 2008 elections
.
The volume treats especially the private life of Alaska's Governor rather than her politic career and revealed unknown details about her last pregnancy with son Trig born April 2008. She had been hiding her pregnancy until her daughters found Trig's prenatal ultrasound scan and confronted Palin with the picture, reveals Benet.
"Sarah made one slip-up – but [she] dampened suspicion by explaining it away, " was posted in the book. And also, Palin didn't told her children that her unborn son was diagnosed with Down syndrome, until his birth.
"Not discussing the pregnancy with her daughters, she felt, would shorten the process and spare them from unwanted attention," according to the book, which wasn't authorized by Palin. The other reason for which the Governor didn't talked about her pregnancy was the fear for raising a child with health problems.
"Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs – I couldn't talk about it," was Sarah Palin's response when interviewed by Benet for a 2008 People cover-story.
The family's lifestyle is described as being at a frenetic pace, with five children to carry for, to take them to their games and school festivities or go out to dinner during week-ends. Finally, Todd Palin and her wife hired a nanny to take care of the small ones as Sarah is getting more preoccupied with her political career.
A certain part is dedicated to Palin's eldest daughter, Bristol, who recently gave birth to her first son, Tripp, on December 27 2008. The story covers Bristol's romance with the father of her child, Levi Johnston. She was working at two coffee shops and going to highschool while Levi was leaving 40 miles away in Wasilla, but "there was certainly no ban on them dating," reports Trailblazer.
Heather and Kurt Bruce, the relatives Bristol was leaving with in Anchorage, were quoted as saying "He used to bring her flowers and take her to dinner and a movie. He would come in and say hello, but he says few words. He's a quiet boy."
The sources that contribute to the book's authenticity were Palin's parents, Chuck and Sally Heath; the governor's older sister, Heather Bruce; as well as in-laws, political allies and rivals.
