Prince Harry was left by girlfriend Chelsy Davy

Britain's Prince Harry broke up with girlfriend Chelsy Davy after five years relationship, the Times of London reported.

Chelsy, 23,a post-graduate law student at Leeds University split from Prince Harry, who is now following a 2½-year course with the Army Air Corps in helicopter pilot training after a tropical vacation on Mauritius.

A royal source says that their split up was made in an amicable way and that the initiative belong to Davy, who apparently call it quits blaming the time spend apart and Prince Harry's chaotic lifestyle.

"They are remaining friends," says the royal source. "There have been all sorts of reasons given [for the split] but suffice it to say they felt that it had run its course."

Although the couple were often photographed at London social events, royal functions and sports tournaments, they revealed little about their feelings for each other in their time together.

In 2005, Prince Harry said for a magazine that: "I would love to tell everyone how amazing she is but once I start talking about that, I have left myself open."

Chelsy Davy, who is the daughter of the millionaire hunting safari operator Charles Davy, was born in Zimbabwe and studied at a university in Cape Town, South Africa.
