Because Paula Abdul said she will not come back for the ninth season of ’American Idol’ and Victoria Beckham is still undecided, the show’s producers thought it would be better to have a few guests judges in the seven weeks of taped audition rounds. In the meanwhile they will decide if somebody will permanently take Paula Abdul’s place or not. Or, if eventually Abdul will let her pride a way and take back her role in the show.

After all, the producers still hope for Abdul, who asked for $ 20 million, but would agree even for $ 10 million, to come back. "We love Paula. She's been a really wonderful part of the show for eight years", Fox chairman Peter Rice told the FOX Television Critics Association on Thursday.

But if she doesn’t come back, the producers have to be prepared. "There is going to be a change and that change we have to look at that as being a positive change. It wasn't a decision we made, but we have to look at it in a positive way", Rice added.

So, beside Victoria Beckham they thought about another guest judge: Katy Perry! She will most probably join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the auditions which begin Friday in Denver.

"We'll have these guest judges do one week each during the audition [period]... there is no thought right now that any of these judges will be long term judge for us. All of the people we are talking to have successful careers. I don't even think they'd be available to judge full-time. We have now until January to introduce a new energy to the panel", Rice also said.
