When I think of David Duchovny (uh, which isn't often, trust me), I don't think of him being some wild, porn-crazed, sex maniac. I picture him, as I'm sure most of his fans do - a sometimes comedic actor (especially during interviews), who is a fairly laid back family man. Kind of 'on the boring side at times' - well maybe boring is too harsh, but certainly not someone I'd expect to hear entered rehab for sex addiction. Apparently he's had us all fooled. Over the years, Duchovny was never shy about bringing the topic of sex up during interviews and although he may not have said anything specific to lead people to believe he had a problem, looking back, maybe he was trying to say something indirectly. David was always sure to let the public know that being married to actress Téa Leoni was a great inspirationin keepinghis libido in check. Téa and David have been married since 1997, and they have two kids - Madelaine, 9, and Kyd, 6. Duchovny told Best Life mag earlier this year, "Twelve years ago, I would have been hard-pressed to understand why I'd want to be involved sexually with one personn this long. "Before Téa, the longest my intense sexual interest would last would be maybe two years. But the real rewards of a relationship come after you've been together a while. That's where Téa and I are lucky." There were whisperings of the X-Files star, in the 90's, ofhaving sexual addictions. David denied any such rumors. He spoke with Cosmopolitan in '97, "If you're single and in the public eye and you have a few dates, you're a sex addict." His wife also denied the allegations, speaking with Elle mag in 1998, "David was accused of being a sex addict. Which I always found very exciting. And then I found out it wasn't true." Uh, well, you got your wish???? In 1998 Duchovny did an interview in Playboy mag and didn't mind giving some juicy details. He said he had an "affinity for hotel pornography," and talked of his fondness for 80's porn stars. Bow chicka wow wow. He, however, avoided sexual questions as times, especially during the time he was shooting his rauncy Showtime show, Californication. He said to Entertainment Weekly in 2007, "T** and a**, not important to me. Kind of beside the point." And just this year, the 48-year-old actor spoke with Best Life and said it's okay for a married man to have lustful feelings for other women, as long as it doesn't go further than feelings. "There's nothing wrong with acknowledging the panoply of life's rich experience. You can't control your mind. Why would you want to? You can't feel guilty about being alive, about being a man, about feeling attracted. You can only control your actions." Uh, good luck with rehab.
