Chris Brown: five years on probation and six months of hard community labor

Yesterday Chris Brown faced the Los Angeles Courtroom, pleading guilty in the case where he was charged for assault against his former girlfriend, Rihanna. The verdict: Brown won’t do jail time, but he is 5 years on probation and will spend 6 months doing community labor like road cleanup in Virginia (more specific Brown will be picking up trash, pulling weeds and washing fire trucks.)

His lawyer even announced that the 20 years old singer will move in Virginia (his native town), but will return to California once every three months for updates. During the probation time, he is not allowed to get more than 50 yards close to Rihanna, not to mention bother or harm her in any way. The judge mentioned that if the two of them meet at one party, the 50 yards stay-away turn into 10 yards.

Also Brown must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program. If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.

As the result of being a convicted felon, Brown loses a few rights: to own a gun, to sit on a jury, subject to search and seizure without a search warrant and he now has limitations on travel.
Rihanna did not have to testify.

After the trail, Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos declared for the press: "This is a kid who has never been in trouble before, who wants to move past this. He has accepted responsibility and will continue to do so. He embraces this as an opportunity to get his life back on track and his career back on track."
