Bristol Palin's Boyfriend, Levi Johnston, To Attend Republican National Convention

Fiance of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter headed to St. Paul, his mother says.

Levi Johnston, the boyfriend of Governor Sarah Palin's pregnant 17-year-old daughter Bristol, will reportedly attend the Republican National Convention in St.Paul, Minnesota, according to The Associated Press.

The 18-year-old's mother, Sherry Johnston, said that Levi left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family at the convention, where the first-term governor will be speaking Wednesday night (September 3) as the vice-presidential running mate of Senator John McCain.

Johnston admitted that she is nervous about the pressure the media scrutiny will put on her son, as planning to be a teenage father is difficult enough without the whole world watching. She added, however, that the couple had been planning to get married before they discovered Bristol was pregnant. "This is just a bonus," she said.

Johnston confirmed that Levi, a former high school hockey player, is no longer student, but she wouldn't confirm any more details about her son.

"This is out of my league," Sherry said. "I'm just a country gal, and I want to keep it that way."

Meanwhile, a Palin relative spoke to People magazine about Bristol and Levi. "He's a good guy," the source said. "They'll be good together."

The relative added that the pregnancy had not been a secret to those closest to the couple. "They kind of let everyone know [last May], and word traveled quick," the relative said. "We were surprised, but everyone is positive."

I am happy that Bristol and Levi have such loving and caring family's to help them through this.
I just wish the media would lay off of them. This story has nothing to do with Palin running for VP.

Let's all just wait until tonight when Sarah Palin speaks at RNC! She is going to put aside any doubt that she is the one to stand with McCain and be OUR first lady VP and a Republican none the less!
McCain/Palin 2008!

Reminds me of yet another Republican leader who doesn't do his homework and worse picked a gov. of Alaska just to drill for the oil to line the deep pockets of the Bush oil buddies. Haven't we had enough of this legal rape of the American public?

M: I think you should do your homework, Gov Palin is far from in big oils pocket. Thanks to the governor, myself and the rest of Alaskans will be getting a 1200.00 dollar energy rebate to go along with the largest Permanent fund check to date. Can you say that in your little tax and spend you live in. The energy rebate is directly tied to a tax on Bushes oil buddies. Do your homework before you spout your hate.

I wonder what they gave Mr. Johnston to have him come here after the buzz about this pregnancy thing. We'll see how it unfolds. I hope all the stories are lies.

And to think the Republicans are against teenage pregnancy education. Thank you Bristol for bringing the issue in front of the American public!

Sounds to me like this Levi guy likes the limelight. I think it is better if he stays out of the picture. If he is going to stand behind the Palin then he should but he should keep it behind. I do not care much for people who shows off.

Palin seems solid but I think all these informations are details is more than I need or care to hear about.

I lived in Alaska only for a short time while my husband was stationed but things i heard about Palin and how she did made me respect her even more i think its a good idea to drill in the country so maybe our gas prices will drop.

I AM SO PROUD TO BA A REPUBLICAN! And i am thrilled to have Gov. Palin running with McCain! it just makes the package so much better! She is such a pistol and clearly lets nothing stand in her way! Thats what america needs and the issues with her daughter has nothing to do with nothing that is their personnal life and should stay that way.

Who cares about a VP candidate family issues? That's part of life, let them deal with it as a family matter, its not our business.

If anybody's family doesn't have a single issue trow the first Rock. Nothing is perfect but God.

What I care is about, what these candidates are going to do to solve the Americans issues, like: The raising gas prices, The economy issues, The end of this non-sense "War on terrorism", and to get rid of all the corrupted leaches that are making millions of the American Taxpayers.

That is the kind of speech that I want to hear. Not people trying to make a Circus about a VP candidate family issues.

Amazing. Wait, conservatives do not think that a 17 year old getting knocked up is is not cool? I am a moderate Democrat (who loves McCain, a moderate conservative), but i think letting your kid get knocked up is insane. It means you either have a knuckle head for a kid or you just have no idea what your kid is doing. I am depressed. This is the best McCain could find?

Kids have sex everyday and parents have no idea some get caught by getting pregnant and others luck out and dont. This has no reflection on her mother or father whatsoever. All you can do is raise your kids to the best of your ability teach them values and morals the difference between write and wrong. Wheather or not they listen is up to them,I think its great myself to maybe have someone representing the common American citizen that has had ups and downs in life and struggles to deal with than someone who claimes to be perfect and nothing hiding in the closet. We all if your truthfull have something we have done wrong so think about that.

Michelle says:September 4, 2008, 5:10 pm
Helen, you are right. This is not about the Palin family. However, it is about the fact that a barely 17 year old is pregnant and may be living in the White House. What kind of message does that send to teenage girls at a time when teenage pregnancy is on the RISE in the US? Keep in mind that we are the only industrial nation in the world where this is happening. With the parents of people like young Miss Palin (and Jaime Lynne Spears) proudly showcasing their daughters, what kind of message is that sending to our own daughters?!?! Let's not forget the group of girls in MA who thought it would be "cool" to have babies by the time they were 16 (that means they had to be pregnant at 15, right).
brad says:September 4, 2008, 5:10 pm
I quickly noticed the republicans new morality on "good". I consider his actions wrong, and if we have to now decide that child pregnancy is "good" so the republicans can be moral people, what is next?
