Being From Texas Doesn't Make You Country (Apparently)
Jessica Simpson has declared she always dreamed of making a country album, so it must have been hard hitting to find herself being booed as she made her music debut at the Country Thunder USA Festival in Randall, Wisconsin.
The crowds didn't hold back in showing their disapproval as the singer-turned-actress took to the stage on Saturday. Despite a set that included country covers, Willie Nelson's On the Road Again and Shania Twain's Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?, she failed to win over the audience.
Many concert-goers said she just didn't fit in. The newspaper's music critic said: "Many audience members found her attempt to crossover into country irritating and that her vocals lacked a southern sound." Jessica, 28, announced plans earlier this year to release a country album - despite being better known as a pop star.
