Parker's real life persona is much different than her character, the sexy, stylish, love-seeking writer, Carrie Bradshaw. She is a devoted wife and mother and is also involved with charity work as a UNICEF representative.Sarah Jessica Parker was born on March 25, 1965, in Nelsonville, Ohio. As a result of her professional performing, training at both the American Ballet School and The Professional Children's School, she appeared at a young age in Broadway productions such as The Sound of Music and Annie. After high school, Parker chose to pursue acting full-time instead of attending college. In the years following graduation, Parker made appearances in several television and big-screen movies such as Footloose and The First Wives Club. While trying to break into film, she could also be seen in Broadway productions like Sylvia and Once Upon a Mattress. After years of small, relatively unknown appearances, Sarah would finally make it big with her Golden Globe-winning role on the HBO series Sex and the City, which also featured actress Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. Parker's character was New York columnist Carrie Bradshaw, and the show was ground-breaking because of its frank discussion of sexual topics previously considered too taboo for television.
