Eva Jacqueline Longoria is an internationally recognized model who is best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in the ABC television series Desperate Housewives.She was born on March 15, 1975, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Mexican American Catholic parents, Enrique Longoria Jr. and Ella Eva Mireles. She has three older sisters -- Elizabeth, Emily, and Esmeralda -- and was often teased by her siblings because she was the only one with dark eyes, dark hair, and darker skin.Longoria graduated from the oldest high school in Corpus Christi, Roy Miller High School. She then went on to study at the Texas A M University-Kingsville where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology.While at college, Longoria won the title of Miss Corpus Christi, USA, where she was also spotted by a theatrical agent who signed her immediately.Longoria moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, and soon her agent was able to get her an audition for the comedic play What the Rabbi Saw. She landed the role she auditioned for and continued to act in several performances of the show.In 2000 Longoria landed her first television role, guest starring on Beverly Hills , 90210. This role was followed by a guest appearance on General Hospital in the same year.The following year Longoria got her first big break when she landed a spot on the long-running American soap opera, The Young and the Restless. She played the role of psychotic Isabella Bra a Williams from 2001 to 2003, and won an ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama. In 2003 she was listed in the Most Beautiful People list in the Spanish-language version of People magazine.After The Young and the Restless, Longoria acted in the short-lived ABC television series remake of L.A. Dragnet that was produced by Dick Wolf. Roles in two separate and unsuccessful productions followed (one was a direct-to-video film, the other a television film). In 2003 she starred in an equally unsuccessful gangster crime drama film called Snitch'd, which one viewer called a dopey shot-on-video vanity project.Although 2003 seemed to be a bad year for Longoria's acting career, she was back in the acting game later that year when she starred as herself in the hugely successful hit live comedy show Hot Tamales Live: Spicy, Hot and Hilarious.In 2004 Longoria landed her role in the prime-time satire, Desperate Housewives. With the show's instant success, Longoria became an overnight sensation. Unfortunately for her, she wasn t sensational enough to get an award nomination for the 2005 Emmy Awards as did Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, and Felicity Huffman. Longoria was left out, along with Nicolette Sheridan. But this didn t stop her from landing other lucrative contracts and she soon became the print and television face of L Oreal.Despite Longoria's success on Desperate Housewives, she has repeatedly said that she won t renew the contract once it is up because she wants to focus on the film industry. The duration of her current contract is unknown.Longoria topped Maxim magazine's Hottest Female Stars in 2005 and 2006, becoming the first woman to remain at the top of the list for two consecutive years.In 2006 Longoria appeared on Jessica Simpson's music video, A Public Affair. She is currently working on a comedy movie called How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fianc e due to be released in 2007.Longoria has been romantically linked to the president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Edward W V Stephens. She has also dated ex-N SYNC member JC Chasez, writer Milan Gracanin, and actor Mousir Syed. She was briefly married in 2002 to General Hospital star, Tyler Christopher, but divorced him in 2004.With the superstition surrounding the number seven, and the seventh day, of the seventh month, of the year 2007 arriving on a Saturday, it was a popular day for couples getting married all around the globe. This had also been the plan for the wedding of Eva and her fianc , NBA star Tony Parker. But to avoid the glare of paparazzi the couple snuck away to tie the knot in a civil ceremony on 6/7/07. However, a huge party for friends and family, and of course the bride and groom, to celebrate their special day was held on 7/7/2007.
