James Robinson Biography

This James Robinson was a violinist from the ’20s who played in a style that, like a silver bullet fired at the Wolfman, stops dead any notion that the blues and oldtime music were two different species. He is often confused with James “The Bat” Robinson, a blues multi-instrumentalist who recorded on piano, guitar and harmonica, even humming, but never played the violin. The Robinson who did fiddle can be heard backing up by bluesman Tommie Bradley on recordings.
