Willie Barnes Biography

Alabama native Wiley Barner (he was also known as Willie Barnes) was born April 28, 1900 (some sources list the birth year as 1899). He recorded two songs (“My Gal Treats Me Mean” and “If You Want a Good Woman - Get One Long and Tall”) in Birmingham, AL, on August 15, 1927, for Gennett Records. Jimmy Allen played piano on the two tracks, while Will Jennings added guitar and Barner handled the vocals at the sessions, which amount to Barner’s complete recorded work.
