Kerry Dexter has been involved in music as a concert photographer, an audio engineer, a radio and television producer, and a journalist. She’s been a contributing writer for national music publications including Listen to the Music, Acoustic Musician, Dirty Linen, Tapestry, and Crossroads, and has written about music-classical, folk, country, Latino, Celtic, Native American, pop, bluegrass, blues, new age-for general interest and scholarly periodicals. She is a contributor to the MusicHound Guide to World Music, and has created scripts for NPR and PBS affiliate radio and television broadcasts.She received a bachelor’s degree in art and history from Rollins College and did graduate study in both areas at Florida State University. Her most recent project is a book on contemporary women song writers who draw on their understanding of folk music to create their songs.
