Like most, Heidi Karrenbauer is a product of the events, people, and interactions which have surrounded her for the past 23 years. It is virtually impossible to truncate the search for the one event or person, which would later be termed the “defining” moment or influence. Rather, it is the culmination of these influences that has formed my thoughts, interests, and perspectives. That list is much too long and boring for this purpose. Having said that, the following are the basics. Familial speaking, I am the youngest of five children, born and raised in northeast Ohio, and educated in small, parochial schools. I share a love for music with my family and was reared with music as a major component of it. However, musical talents were not evenly distributed among the five. While vocals and composing are the fortes of my elders, I have the strongest passion and deep felt-fascination for all kinds of music. I am a magna cum laude alumna of Bowling Green State University (OH), with a double major in Political Science and Journalism. I was extremely involved with several campus communication and media tasks. I provided 50% of the college financial burden through eight academic scholarships, on-campus employment, an editorial internship at an international trade publishing firm in Chicago, and other employment, one of which was a retail record store. I also was an on-air talent for a nationally-ranked college radio station for three years where I was the sole host of a weekly radio show. I am currently commencing my second year as a Publications Assistant for a professional Association headquartered at The Ohio State University. My duties here vary from editing, proofing, layout, design, communication liaison to members and corporate partners, public relations, all placement advertisements, writing, and Web editorial decisions, to many other special projects as assigned. I am also extremely integral to the success of our monthly newsmagazine, concerning editorial, advertising, and layout aspects, in addition to our annual scholarly Journal. Prior to this position, I was an executive assistant to the President/CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, Inc., where I was asked to juggle several high pressure, time sensitive, and multi-faceted tasks simultaneously. The aforementioned was my academic and professional qualifications. My extracurricular interests and hobbies are equally important. I consider my passion for all music an integral part of my life. Those closest to me correlate this passion as a main ingredient of my personality. I have a fascination with all mediums, and tend to seek them out-from current events shows to imported fashion magazines to independent films-basically any clever or thought-provoking verbiage. I am intrigued and excited by new things, whether they be people, remote towns, or diverse cultures. I enjoy diversity and tend to surround myself by those who challenge me. As a result, I have a cross breed of friends who satisfy my range of interests. This, I feel, allows me to continually learn and expand my knowledge base. Desert Island Picks1.
