Ignacy Marceli Komorowski Biography

This Polish composer was a student of Szanior for the piano, Bulakowski and Hornziel for the violin and Szablinski and Herman for the cello. He became the teacher in residence for the Kretkowski family eventually leaving for Warsaw where he was the cellist for the Wielki Theatre. At this time he also became a composition student under Freyer. The forte of Komorowski’s compositions consisted of songs which were best suited for his lyric abilities. His most popular song was “Kalina” and the main characteristic of Komorowski’s works was a Polish folk rhythm.
