Before this Canuck beauty was discovered at the age of seventeen, she called her family's grain farm in rural Alberta home. Now a supermodel who has appeared on the covers of many top fashion magazines, Tricia has also established herself as a successful television actress and host.Tricia Helfer was born on April 11th, 1974 in Donalda, Alberta. Growing up as a farm girl in small-town Canada, Helfer's stunning looks were noticed by model scout Kelly Streit while Tricia stood in line at a local movie theatre. A short year later, Helfer began her climb to the top when she won Ford Models Supermodel of the World Contest. The resulting publicity led to her being signed by Elite Model Management. The agency, which was founded in Paris, launched the careers of some of the world's most successful models, including Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer. Helfer eventually left Elite to sign with Trump Model Management, and her phenomenal career has seen her appearing in ad campaigns for Ralph Lauren and Chanel, and participating in top fashion show for Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren. Her photogenic face has been featured on the covers of the world's top fashion magazines including Flare, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, and Vogue.Despite a thriving career in the fashion industry, Helfer soon set her sights on acting, perhaps growing interested in television and film after hosting the Canadian fashion program Ooh La La. Soon after her stint as host, she moved to New York to study acting and then settled in LA in 1996 to pursue her dream. Before securing her most notable role, Helfer appeared in two episodes of Jeremiah, the ultimately unsuccessful series which starred Luke Perry and Malcolm Jamal Warner. Other credits include a single appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a leading role in the independent film White Rush, and serving as a judge for Miss Teen USA and Miss USA pageants.In 2003, Helfer appeared as the Cylon agent Number Six in the mini-series remake of the Sci Fi success Battlestar Galactica. The ratings were so favorable for the three-hour film that it was made into a television series. Helfer plays the same role in the popular show, which was been renewed for a third season and also features Academy Award nominees Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell.Since she began regular work on the series, Helfer appeared as Farrah Fawcett in 2004 in the NBC television movie Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels. She also began hosting and judging the show Canada's Next Top Model early in 2006.Tricia's husband is an entertainment lawyer by the name of Jonathan Marshall. The couple have been married since 2002.
