Pierce Brosnan has handsome looks and charm, attributes he used to the fullest in his most famous role as James Bond. Born in Ireland in 1953, Brosnan's family moved to London when he was eleven years old. He then trained as an actor in London.Early television roles gave Pierce Brosnan a start in his career and he became well known in the United States after his appearance in the mini series, The Manions of America in 1981. The family saga starred Kate Mulgrew, Anthony Quayle, David Soul, and Simon MacCorkindale. Brosnan's break into TV stardom came soon after, when he accepted the title role in the series, Remington Steele. The series ran from 1982 1987 and his co-stars were Stephanie Zimbalist and Doris Roberts.After Remington Steele was over, Pierce Brosnan was free to pursue movie opportunities. He was cast as a cold blooded killer in the Cold War movie, The Fourth Protocol. John Mackenzie directed and it starred Michael Caine, Ned Beatty, and Joanna Cassidy. Mrs. Doubtfire was a hit comedy in which Brosnan co-starred with Robin Williams and Sally Field. Chris Columbus directed.1995 was a special year for Pierce Brosnan, as the first of his four James Bond films were released. They all co-starred Judi Dench as Secret Service boss. M. Martin Campbell directed GoldenEye with Sean Bean and Robbie Coltrane in support. Brosnan had signed a contract which allowed him to do other projects in between Bond films, and he made the science fiction comedy, Mars Attack!. Director Tim Burton cast an all star ensemble which included Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, and Danny De Vito.The next Bond film was Tomorrow Never Dies, directed by Roger Spottiswoode. The crime caper was directed by John McTiernan and co-starred Rene Russo and Ben Gazzara. Another Bond movie followed with The World Is Not Enough, directed by Michael Apted. Sophie Marceau, Robert Carlyle, and John Cleese also featured.Pierce starred in the stylish spy thriller, The Tailor of Panama, directed by John Boorman. It co-starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Geoffrey Rush. The final Pierce Brosnan Bond filmed appeared in 2002. Die Another Day was directed by Lee Tamahori and co-starred Halle Berry and Michael Madsen.There has been plenty of work offered to Brosnan after James Bond. He made a comic crime film with After The Sunset, directed by Brett Ratner. Salma Hayek was his love interest and it also co-starred Woody Harrelson and Don Cheadle. Seraphim Falls, a Civil War film, has a release date for 2006 and Pierce stars with Liam Neeson and Anjelica Huston. The directing credits for this film go to David Von Ancken. Another 2006 release has been scheduled for Caitlin. Directed by Marc Evans, it tells the story of poet Dylan Thomas and his relationship with his wife. Michael Sheen and Miranda Richardson star with Pierce and Rosamund Pike.Pierce Brosnan was married to Australian actress, Cassandra Harris, who died in 1991. He adopted her two children and they had a son together, called Sean. Sean Brosnan has just started out on his own acting career. Pierce re-married in 2001 and he has two more sons.
