One could say that Annette Ekblom breeds successful actors. Her daughter is actress Amelia Warner and she was also the former mother-in-law of the famous actor Colin Farrell. Ekblom herself has also had a successful television and entertainment career in the UK. Despite the Scandinavian heritage that her surname gives away, Ekblom was born and raised in the UK. She grew up in New Brighton, England. She has had roles in a few films to date including Fever Pitch in 1999, which was a comedy starring Colin Firth and Ruth Gemmell. Annette played the role of Robert's Mom. Another film credit was Staggered in 1994, also a comedy, starring Martin Clunes and Anna Chancellor. She played the role of Caroline.Annette is equally known for her most memorable TV role as Patricia Davey in Peak Practice as well as being the mother of her only daughter and blossoming young actress Amelia. She was only twenty-three-years-old when her daughter was born in 1982, around the same time she was trying to make a name for herself in the acting business. Life became even more difficult for her when she split up with Amelia's father around the time the infant was born. Amelia stayed in Annette's care throughout her youth. Her role as a single mother and actress had a deep impact to both mother and daughter. Unable to afford a babysitter, Annette brought her young daughter along to the set and backstage at plays. Although she felt guilty for making her daughter wait around for her, by the time she was a teenager Amelia Warner had caught the acting bug as well.Initially, Annette did not wish for her daughter to become an actress. She wanted her daughter to choose a career that could offer job security. A compromise was reached when Amelia agreed to attend college and work in films on the side. She has chosen to study history at the Goldsmith's College located in London.Although Annette has not been a tremendously successful actress internationally, she has maintained the occasional role in television shows and has performed in several plays in the late 1980s, including Willy Russell's Blood Brothers. She has also been involved with the UK TV mini-series, Take Me in 2001, in which she played the role of Lauren. She is currently represented by Gavin Barker Associates, LTD, which is a theatrical agency based out of West London.
